Japan had long been a destination on both of our bucket lists, but visiting had become all but impossible during the COVID-19 pandemic. As the situation evolved and global restrictions began to disappear, we knew this was our shot to visit the country where old meets new like none other. We took a risk and booked flights to the other side of the world when the country was still closed to American tourists, hoping the ban would be listed in the coming months. Our gamble paid off, and the doors were open to spending two weeks in Japan.
For this trip, we brought along one of our best friends, Daniel. He’s a huge foodie and could not turn down the opportunity to visit the country he’d also longed to see. So, with a group of two turned three turned four (Emily was pregnant during our visit), we dove right into Japanese history, food, and culture for two weeks of amazing fun.
